At Mount Barker Presbyterian Church we believe that when the Maker of Heaven and Earth speaks, the only sensible thing to do is to listen.
Ephesians 6:4 instructs fathers to raise their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. The word “nurture” comes from the Greek word “paideia“. A paideia imparts a whole world view. God wants Christian parents to teach their children to see all of life clearly: through the clear lens of Scripture. There is no place for Christians to train the precious souls that the Lord has placed into their care to be pagans. Children come wired to learn from their parents, and Christian parents, set free from darkness into the glorious light of the truth, want to share that truth with those they love most.
There are multiple ways to train Christian children, but at Mount Barker Presbyterian Church, many of us homeschool. We want to share with you some resources that have been helpful to us as we seek to raise our children for the Lord. We’d love to hear about your ideas too!
Paul wanted Ephesian fathers to build for their children a Christian world that didn’t yet exist. But the truth then is the truth now, and praise God, we have been blessed with eyes to see it and to raise our children to see it.
